How to Fix Images on a Computer
- 1). Locate the image file on your hard drive. Right-click on it and select "Rename."
- 2). Type a different file name, but keep the same file extension. Press the "Enter" key. Double-click on the file to see if it opens properly. If it doesn't go to the next step.
- 3). Download and install an image recovery program. Davory 2.03, PixRecovery and JPEG Recovery Pro Editor offer free downloads for home and personal use. See Resources to make a selection.
- 4). Launch the program you just installed.
- 5). Follow the on-screen guided prompts to locate and repair the corrupt image file. Select a secured location on your hard disk for your "destination folder" to save the repaired image file. Select a different file name for your image to avoid confusion.
