How to Make a Dolphin Habitat in a Shoe Box for School
- 1). Set several sheets of newspaper on a table.
- 2). Place a shoebox in the middle of the newspaper so that it is resting on its longest side. The open space should be facing you.
- 3). Paint the inside sides and back of the shoebox blue, since dolphins live in water. The bottom of the box can be painted tan or brown to represent the ocean's floor. Wait for the paint to dry.
- 4). Tie a string around a miniature plastic dolphin. Tape the other end of the string to the ceiling of the shoebox. Repeat with another dolphin or two.
- 5). Draw or print out pictures of such fish as herrings and mackerels. These are the types of fish dolphins eat. Draw or print a picture of squid, since many dolphins also eat squid. Glue the pictures to the back of the shoebox so it looks like they are swimming around in the dolphin habitat.
- 6). Add other pictures or miniatures of things that would be found in a dolphin habitat, for example, coral reefs, seaweed, starfish, crabs and sea turtles.
- 7). Cover the front of the shoebox with a piece of blue plastic wrap.
