Two of Atlanta's favorite children's attractions are the Center for Puppetry Arts and Imagine It! Children's Museum. Both have scheduled fun and creative activities for children to enjoy over the summer months. The Children's Museum is hosting the €Weebles Coast to Coast€ interactive exhibit, and the Center for Puppetry Arts has planned shows based on classic children's literature. These destinations are a sure bet to beat midsummer boredom.

The current production at the Center for Puppetry Arts is €The Cat in the Hat,€ based on the beloved Dr. Seuss classic. The show is recommended for ages 4 and older, and runs through July 28, 2013. Show times are Tuesday-Friday at 10am and noon; Saturdays at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm; and Sundays at 1pm and 3pm. Performances include a Create a Puppet Workshop where children can make a Cat in the Hat shadow puppet. €Rumpelstiltskin€ will run August 1-September 8. The story is based on the Grimm's fairy tale and is appropriate for ages 4 and older. Show times are Thursday and Friday at 10am and 11:30am; Saturdays at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm; and Sundays at 1pm and 3pm. The Center for Puppetry Arts will present €Peter Rabbit€ from September 11-22. The tale is based on the well known children's books by Beatrix Potter. The show is recommended for ages 4 and older. Show times are Wednesday-Friday at 10am and 11:30am; Saturdays at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm; and Sundays at 1pm and 3pm.

Single show tickets, which include Create a Puppet Workshops and entrance to the puppet museum, are $9.25 for members and $16.50 for non-members. The museum features more than 350 puppets from around the world. A highlight of the collection is the Jim Henson Showcase. The Center for Puppetry Arts is located at 1404 Spring Street NW (at 18th Street) in midtown.

Imagine It! Children's Museum is hosting the special exhibit €Weebles Coast to Coast€ through September 8, 2013. The educational traveling exhibit was developed by Milwaukee's Betty Brinn Children's Museum in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc. The exhibit will guide children on an adventure to each of the 50 states, exploring geography, history, and culture. The activities are interactive, with lots of hands-on opportunities. Children will be able to express themselves through art, music, and movement. Guests can €plan' their trip and locate the stops by touch screen. They can pretend to snorkel in Hawaii, ride a mule at the Grand Canyon, or drive a boat down the Mississippi River. The activities are designed for children ages 4-10.

Imagine It! Children's Museum is located in downtown Atlanta at 275 Centennial Olympic Park Drive. Hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm and weekends from 10am-5pm. Admission is $12.75 plus tax.
