What is Twitter and How Can it Be Used in Your Business!
What is Twitter Twitter is a social media site that is a great way to let people know what you are doing.
Now, some people take it to a level that I would think is INSANE.
It is a free social network or micro-blogging website.
When I say micro-blogging is where you can leave small rants about almost anything.
No you can not rant and discriminate.
You will be shut down.
You can not haze, threat, or attack anyone either or you will lose all access forever.
Twitter is an inbound form of marketing where you are accessing others because they grant you permission.
There are over 4.
5 million accounts, and 14 million visitors a day.
These numbers were growing at over a 750% in 2008.
With these kinds of numbers, could you find people in your targeted markets? Sure you can.
Why would you want to use Twitter? Well first of all, my last comment should give you some clues.
The people that gave you permission, care what you have to say.
People will follow you, if they want to know what is going on with you and your company or business, because they will want to follow your "tweets".
These are messages and comments that you post.
I love this, because I tweet out to others about articles that I write to help people with their businesses.
So, if you like my articles, sign on to Twitter and follow me! Find people you want to know more about.
Twitter will allow you to get traffic to your other social medias and websites.
I will tell you that people are looking to see if you fit in with them.
Watch the @replies that you receive.
Now, if no one cares, you will not get replies.
Who uses Twitter? What you are asking is who are those 14 million visitors a day! Large businesses, NASA, News Outlets, Presidential candidates, universities, activists, and the list goes on.
So, yes, some people miss the boat based upon their tweets.
If you are blasting out how great you are, do you feel some of these people really care? Now, say you tweet now about health care reform or another heated topic, do you think people will want to know what your position may be? Yes! How does Twitter work? You enter your tweet.
The newest message will be at the top of the list on your page.
The tweet will go to your contacts pages and even mobile devices and phones.
The person decides to re-tweet your message and his friends decide if they want to follow you and your friend encourages them to follow you and you being a nice person in the community should follow your followers.
If you don't, do you know what they are all about? Not if you do not know what they are saying.
This allows you to make a new friend.
When should you tweet? You should tweet 3 times a day.
If your not tweeting, people lose interest in what you have to say.
Tweets are discussions, they are not broadcasts.
If you are just pitching, you will be banned.
You should watch your @replies and reply back.
What should you tweet about? Things I tweet about is features on a website, stuff on MySpace and Facebook, YouTube, New reports, blog posts, sales, anything that is public knowledge and web content that people that follow me may want to know.
How do you get engaged? No I am not talking about marriage, but in a way you can look at it in the same light.
When you met your significant other, husband or wife, or plan to, what will you do to let them know that they are special to you? You need to show interest in them.
If you like a specific sports team, and see someone likes the same, then you let them know, I am glad to meet you and I see you like..
...
And that is wide open.
Now if someone decides to follow you, make sure you say hello.
If not, do they really matter to you? Be real.
Let people know who you are.
Be human and not a robot...
make jokes (be careful here not to offend), find users talking about your brand, use search.
Twitter.
com, reply to others using the @ and their user id.
, let people know how to contact you and get support.
Now that is if you have people for businesses.
You do not want to give out your personal contact information because there are some less than noble people active on Twitter.
Make sure you follow people talking about your brand, so you can stay engaged in the conversations.
An @ in front of a user is a reply to that person only.
Keep Private conversations private.
You may not want the world to know all your business.
Add your Twitter link to your websites.
This allows others to find you easier.
Then if someone want to ask you a question, they can.
If your mobile phone handles Twitter as an application, get it set up so you can stay in contact.
I hope this gives you a little of information on how you can get Twitter to work for you.
If you are not sure how to use Twitter in your business, make sure you find people who can help you with marketing your business with the use of Twitter.
I personally love it!
