    Facebook Pages

    • A Facebook page offers a public, official presence for a business, organization, brand or person. Other Facebook users can become fans of your page by clicking its "Like" button. Because Facebook pages are public, anyone on the Web can view your page, not just people you accept as friends. In addition, you must have authorization to create a Facebook page. For example, you can create a page only for yourself, your own business or an employer or client who has given you permission to do so. To create a Facebook page, navigate to facebook.com/pages/create.php while logged in to Facebook.

    Facebook Community Pages

    • A Facebook community page, which looks similar to a traditional Facebook page, offers a public presence on the Web but isn't for an official business or organization. For example, you could create a community page about a hobby, cause or professional interest such as ballroom dancing, pet adoption or Web design. Facebook identifies community pages clearly to avoid any confusion with official pages on a similar topic. Consider a Facebook community page if you want to create a public Facebook presence on a topic but don't represent a specific business or organization. To create a community page, navigate to facebook.com/pages/create.php while logged in to Facebook, and select the "Cause or Community" button.

    Facebook Profiles

    • A Facebook profile is for an individual person to connect with friends and family members. You have complete privacy control over your profile and can specify exactly who can see your content. Because Facebook profiles are designed for individuals, a business or organization shouldn't create a profile. If you're a public figure or independent professional, you can create a profile to communicate with people you know and a page to communicate with customers and fans. To create a new Facebook profile, visit facebook.com, complete the fields in the "Sign Up" section and click the "Sign Up" button.

    Facebook Groups

    • A Facebook group lets you discuss any topic, such as a hobby or professional interest, with other Facebook users. You can create an open group that any Facebook user can join or a closed group that requires your permission to join. Optionally, you can hide your group from Facebook search results. Groups are also a good choice for business owners who want to create a private community for customers on Facebook. To create a group, log in to Facebook and click the "Create Group" link on the left side of your homepage.
