Many of us who have reached the age of 50 at some point realize we need to start doing something to prepare our bodies for the rigors of getting older and hopefully maintaining our strength and stamina.
Our lack of exercise never becomes more obvious then when we start to see that getting out of certain chairs, going up and down multiple steps or, carrying in groceries from the car is not as easy as it once was.
Deciding to start an exercise program can be quite an adjustment for some, exciting for others or, just given a fleeting thought then forgotten about.
The thought of taking the time can be daunting for some of us but, if you decide to start then start thinking like a powerlifter.
Powerlifitng is something that has been around for years.
Powerlifiting in fact can be done by anyone male or female, old or young.
If you want to find a series of exercises that will help you build more muscle mass as you age and, get you stronger to boot then, powerlifitng is the ticket.
There are three exercises that are used in the powerlifitng protocol.
the squat, the bench press, and the deadlift.
They are efficient, and they give you results.
These of course are not considered the glamour exercises like bicep curls or leg extension exercises however, they will build for you the strongest body you possibly can have as you age and, by building strength and muscle you get in a return a 24/7 calorie burning machine and better fitting clothes.
Having a strong pair of legs to prevent falls, developing a stronger chest for broader shoulders and better fitting outfits, and stronger back to prevent back pain due to a weak back is what you get in return for your hard work.
After the age of 50 staying physically strong will be the key as to whether you live independently in your later years or, do you become a casualty due to procrastination and frailty and end up living your life under someone else's terms.
The choice is yours, now is the time to act.
