    • 1). Dye hair a dark color, such as chestnut brown or black. If you are only wearing your greaser hairstyle for a short time, opt for a temporary color rinse to darken your natural hair color.

    • 2). Wash and condition your hair. Allow your hair to air dry until slightly damp. Comb your hair to remove all knots. Use the pointed end of a rat tail comb to separate hair from the front through the back, making two equal sections of hair. Pin one section up to keep it out of your way while you work.

    • 3). Divide the remaining hair in to 1-inch-thick sections. Comb it straight and twist your hair around your finger, working your way from the ends to the scalp. Secure it in to place using two bobby pins to create a pin curl. Repeat the process until all hair has been curled into pin curls. Mist your hair lightly with water and allow it to air dry.

    • 4). Remove all pin curls. Run the pointed end of a rat tail comb horizontally across the middle of your head in the back to make two sections of hair. Clip the top section on top of your head while you work on the bottom half. Use your fingers to smooth pin curls so they all go in the same direction and the ends turn under.

    • 5). Remove the clip on the top of your head and work your hair with your fingers into a bunch. Secure the hair into place at the top of your head with bobby pins. Use a comb to smooth down the front of your hair to create a smooth shelf that ends where the bobby pins hold the rest of the hair. Use your fingers to smooth pin curls and shape the curls into smooth tendrils.
