    Large-Flowered

    • The large-flowered amaryllis is the most popular. Its 8-to-10-inch diameter flowers that come in many different colors including bi-color or striped. They sit on top of 2-foot stems.

    Small-Flowered or Miniature

    • Miniature amaryllis flowers are 3 to 5 inches in diameter, have wavy edges and sit atop multiple stems 12 to15 inches tall. Each stem blooms at a different time, assuring a long-lasting show.

    Trumpets

    • The name describes the shape of these amaryllis flowers, which resemble lilies. They have a very light scent and come in red or white, with red or blush pink edges and stripes.

    Double-flowered

    • On the double-flowered amaryllis, each flower head has a second smaller one stacked inside the first one, for a fuller bloom.

    Exotic (Cybister and Butterfly)

    • Exotic amaryllis types bloom later in the winter than the more standard cultivars. They have smaller bulbs and their flowers resemble oversized orchids, with starburst petals and fine stripes of green or burgundy.

    African

    • The African amaryllis is a cultivated hybrid that has been bred to grow rapidly in a pot and to produce large blooms on shorter stalks.
