If you don´t keep records on anything you do and "wing it" then losing weight successfully is impossible.

What should you record Obviously the amount of calories you eat each and every day is important, especially when you are eating in a restaurant.
If you eat the same type and amount of foods then you know how many calories they are, but restaurant meals are usually a lot larger.
You should also record the amount of proteins, carbohydrates and fats you eat, because not all calories are the same.
It is also a good idea to measure your body fat percentage once a week, not only to weigh yourself.
If you only weigh yourself on the scale than you don´t know how much fat and how much lean body mass your body contains.
Over time you can clearly see if you are losing only body fat or if you are also losing lean body weight.
The more records you have the more information you have, so if progress slows down, then you can know very quickly where the problem is.
