How to Install a Moen Kingsley Tub Diverter

    Instructions

    • 1). Turn off the water supply to the bathtub. Water shutoff valves will be either behind the wall or under the faceplate of the on/off handle. If the valves are behind the wall, you will need to shut off the water supply at the point it enters the home. To check for valves behind the faceplate, unscrew and remove the metal cap. Two screwdriver slots on either side of the water pipe indicate the location of shutoff valves. Unscrew them to shut off the water supply. After turning off the water, run remaining water out of the line.

    • 2). Apply a thin coat of sealant to the pipe cover and slide it over the water pipe. Allow a few minutes for the sealant to set.

Slide the tub diverter onto the water pipe upside down (the spout is facing upward) and barely tighten the set screw. Turn the tub diverter to the correct position, make sure it is straight and finish tightening the set screw.

    • 3). Replace the faceplate of the on/off handle if you removed to shut off the water supply. Restore water service and test for leaks. If the tub diverter is leaking, the set screw is not tight enough. Keep tightening until the diverter no longer leaks. Run a thin bead of silicone caulk around the base of the tub diverter. Allow to dry.
