How to Use Microsoft Publisher as a Visual HTML Editor
- 1). Open Microsoft Publisher. Click “File” and “New.” Select a Web page template from the list of available templates or click a blank page template.
- 2). Click “Draw Text Box” to add text to your Web page. Hold the left mouse button and drag to create the text box. Adjust the text font, size, color and effects like italic, bold or underline from the “Font” panel. You can also change the alignment and spacing of the text in the “Paragraph” panel.
- 3). Click “Picture” to add graphics to your Web Page. Browse your file system for the picture you want to load and double-click it, or click it once and click “Insert.” Click “Picture Tools” to add a border or shadow effects, change the brightness and contrast of the image, or add a caption.
- 4). Click “Table” to draw a table on your Web page. Click “Table Tools” to change the format of the table, add borders and adjust the cells to grow as text is added.
- 5). Enter text in a text box and highlight the text. Click “Insert,” then “Hyperlink.” Browse to the Web page you want to link to or type a URL in the “Address” text field. For example, if you have created a Web page called “photos.htm,” browse to that file and double-click it to create a hyperlink. You can also link to another website or Web page on the Internet if you type in the URL of the page or site.
- 6). Click “File.” Click “Save as” and click “Web Page, Filtered” from the “Save As Type” drop-down menu. Click “Save.” You can also click “Save and Send” in the “File” menu and click “Publish HTML.”
- 7). Open an FTP client, log into your Web server, and upload the “HTM” files and “Files” directories created by Microsoft Publisher. For example, if you saved your Web page as “my_home.htm”, upload that file and the “my_home_files” directory created by Publisher.
