Air National Guard Enlistment Requirements & Benefits
- Applicants must be between 17 and 39 years of age in order to enlist in the Air National Guard.
- Enlisting in the Air National Guard requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Applicants must also take and pass the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery.
- Enlistees in the Air National Guard must be in good medical health and able to pass an entrance physical at a Military Entrance Processing Station. As a general rule, applicants should be clear of any diseases, such as asthma, heart problems or deformities, in order to pass the examination.
- In order to join the Air National Guard, applicants for enlistment must be either citizens of the United States or legally designated as permanent residents.
- Enlisted members of the Air National Guard are entitled to certain benefits including bonuses, education reimbursement and access to military shopping areas on base, such as the commissary or Base Exchange. Members can also fly on military aircraft for free when space is available.
