Why I Made a Chic Shower Curtain Myself (and Why You Should Too!)

Not that long ago I was extremely frustrated.
I was redecorating my apartment from top to bottom, but I kept coming up against problems in the bathroom.
First the ceiling almost collapsed.
Then my mirror broke.
Then the cabinets got stained the wrong color.
As you can see, it was already a problem, even before we looked at the room accents.
Even though I had found a lot of the room elements I wanted, a chic shower curtain was completely alluding me.
I didn't think I was asking for too much.
I just wanted something that should look good and match my chosen room theme.
And while there were lots of options, there were not a chic shower curtain to be found.
Most of them were just a single color, or clear.
All fine in their own right, but nothing that I was looking for.
And so, in a moment of frustration, I thought "if I can't find a chic shower curtain anywhere, I'll just make my own!' And what a revelation that idea turned out to be.
If I could do it all again, well, I'd hope for the whole process to go a lot easier.
But I would still do this one bit myself, because I ended up having so much fun doing it! For me, it was very important that my chic shower curtain math my bathroom tiles.
These are very special tiles, with a pattern you couldn't find a lot of places and I wanted to echo that in my own designs.
I tried to do it with all my accents, but until I took the DIY route, it was eluding me for the certain.
And so, off to the internet I went, to research how to even go about doing this.
I found out that there were a few ways I could have the chic shower curtain of my dreams.
I could paint it myself, which wasn't really much of an option, since I'm not good at any type of painting where I can't just use a roller.
I could come up with a design and pay a lot of money for someone else to make it for me, which I considered.
Or, using vinyl cut ours, some glue, and some patience, I could create it all myself.
So I went out and bought, if not the most chic shower curtain, the best clear one I could find.
I found a sheet of vinyl in the color I wanted and set about making the pattern that I wanted.
I measured everything out twice and then traced out the path.
And then, with some water-proof glue (completely essential) I put everything together.
And at the end, I had the chic shower curtain of my dreams.
Making your own chic shower curtain might take as much time as mine did.
But I couldn't be more happy with how my turned out and, given how often people ask me where I bought it from, neither could other people.
If you can, I really recommend making your own next time.
You won't regret it.
