How to Drown Out Loud Roommates

    • 1). Employ white noise. If a shut door doesn't do the trick, buy a fan or get a recording that plays more relaxing noises like rain or waves gently lapping against the shore and play that right next to your bed.

    • 2). Buy noise-canceling earplugs to get rid of all the extra noise so you can sleep. This will help if your roommate shares the dorm with you and keeps you up at night snoring or chatting on the phone.

    • 3). Use headphones and listen to your own music, but use caution. You may not totally be able to drown out all the noise from your roommate and blaring music into your headphones can damage your hearing.

    • 4). Block out windows and door frames or shared walls with soundproofing curtains. This will help muffle the sound coming from other rooms.
