Hang Landscapes

• Landscapes often capture wide open spaces and can convey a sense of freedom and adventure. This can add positive energy to a room. If the budget won't stretch to Constables or Cézannes, consider landscapes by amateur painters. These can be extremely well executed, and are available at a fraction of the cost of work by more celebrated artists. You don't even have to go very far to find the work, as it is often on display in shopping malls, church halls and other local places.

• Flower pictures bring a gentle elegance to a room. Among the top 10 flower paintings, according to Artinthepicture.com, are "Sunflowers" by Vincent van Gogh, "Daisy" by Andy Warhol and "Yellow Sunflowers and Red Poppies" by Emil Nolde. You may prefer something more classical, like the flower paintings of Dutch masters Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder and Jan Van Huysum. Good quality prints, especially of watercolors, can look almost as good as the real thing.
  
  

Hang Objects

• Hang framed objects as art, including plates and other china, textiles and dried flowers. Taking the idea a little further, you could frame and hang objets trouvé, or found objects, such as shells, pebbles and driftwood. You could even frame and hang buttons, beads, badges or other small objects. Or glue miscellaneous objects of different sizes onto a board, then paint over them in one color. This kind of relief can look good in a frame.
  
  

Hang Baseball Cards

• Baseball cards have been around since the late 1800s. When arranged with care in an appropriate frame, they look impressive hanging on a wall. Not only that, but they will stimulate recollections from many people who see them, about the great players of the past. If the cards have information about the players on the back, try to arrange them in a double-glass or perspex frame so that people can access the backs of the cards too.
