Using a Free Windows Vista Registry Cleaner
Let's face it - computers need regular maintenance just like a car in order to run their best.
If your Windows Vista computer is not running quite as well as it did when you first bought it, it may be time to look in to a free registry cleaner to scan and correct errors with your Windows Vista registry.

Step #1 - Download a Free Vista Compatible Registry Scanner The first step is to download the free registry scanner of your choice.
Personally, I like and use RegCure which you can download for free by clicking the link at the bottom of this article.
It is Vista compatible and works well for me.
That said, there are many good registry cleaners out there and you can choose any program that you feel comfortable with.
Step #2 - Run a Scan For Registry Errors Once you have downloaded your free Vista registry cleaner, you will need to let it scan your system for errors.
It is not unusual to have thousands of errors in your registry.
Scanning is an automatic process.
You can click the button and let the software do it's thing while you do something else.
It can take a few minutes to run, but overall scanning your registry for problems is quick and easy.
Most good registry scanners even offer this as a wizard style step-by step process.
Step #3 - Allow the Software to Correct The Problems After your scan is finished, you will have the opportunity to tell the software to correct the errors it has discovered.
In some cases, you may first be required to upgrade your software for this functionality but it's worth it as you will soon discover.
Much like scanning, registry cleaning takes a few minutes but is very easy and automatic.
Optional Step #4 - Optimize Your PC & Set Up Scheduling Now that your Windows Vista registry is good and clean, it would be a good idea to set up scheduling if the software you are using offers it.
By setting the software to run on a regular basis, you can keep your computer in top condition and prevent problems before they occur.
Plus, if you are forgetful like me it sure makes it easy to remember because it remembers for you! Also, if your software has option for optimizing your startup and other settings, it may be a good idea to preform these tasks as well.
I took a couple of minutes off of my boot time by optimizing my startup settings and while that may not be allot, it can add up over time.
Plus, the amount of memory being used for background programs is reduced resulting in a computer that runs better overall.
