2008 Black Cats Picture Gallery: Midnight

Midnight began coming around my back door as a stray, along with two others who have found homes. She looked no more than a kitten herself and would dash to the back door as soon as I pulled up the shades and opened the door. Not long after we noticed she was expecting, and was ravenous for food. She had her kittens (four adorable tuxedo kittens - two long-hair and two short-hair) in the crawl space of a neighbor's porch but would come back to feed with us a few times a day.

She was the most darling thing.
When the kittens came out of the crawl space, I got Midnight and the kittens in my carrier and brought them in the house because there was "no room for them in any inn in any cat project." We kept the kittens and Midnight, who was a great mother, but we finally gave the kittens to the Cat Project when they were about 10 weeks old so they would get good homes.

We decided to keep Midnight though because my husband really liked her. We didn't know how this was going to work out with four other adult cats in the house, but she is doing well so far, and follows me around like a shadow as I go about my work in the morning. We are hoping that Midnight and the other cats will get along now that the kittens are gone. She is a classy cat, silky and just very good tempered. She is the newest love of our lives.
