    • 1). Launch Windows Media Player. Click "Start," "All Programs," then select "Windows Media Player" from the list of applications. Running Windows Media Player before starting "World of Warcraft" tells Windows to use different timings when both programs are open. Skip opening Windows Media Player if you would rather enter the timing command into your "World of Warcraft" chatline instead, freeing up resources that would be used by Windows to run both applications at the same time.

    • 2). Launch "World of Warcraft." Double click the "World of Warcraft" icon on your desktop, click "Play," then enter your Battle.net email address and password when prompted.

    • 3). Enter either of the codes "/console timingmethod 1" or "/console timingmethod 2" into your chatline, then hit "Enter." Use the "/console timingmethod 2" code if you are running the game on an older computer, and "/console timingmethod 2" if you have a multicore processor. The chatline dialog box is located at the bottom-left corner of your "World of Warcraft" screen.

    • 4). Restart "World of Warcraft." The new timing settings will be applied once the application has been re-opened, allowing your characters and gameplay to run faster.
