    • 1). Drill 1/16-inch holes into the tubing. Space the holes 2 to 3 inches apart.

    • 2). Insert and attach the tube into the container. This can be done by coiling a tube around the walls of the inside of the container, or by running several tubes in a straight line from end to end and capping the ends. For larger systems, the latter is the more effective setup as it will give you a more uniform spray area.

    • 3). Connect the tube or tubes to a manifold. Ensure that the manifold has as many openings as there are tubes to connect, plus one. Seal off any additional openings in the manifold.

    • 4). Connect the pump to the remaining opening in the manifold. It does not matter if you store the pump within the container or keep it outside the container. The pump should be capable of delivering 45 to 60 psi to each of the tubes.

    • 5). Cut small holes into the lid of the container in a grid pattern. Cut as many holes as you need for the number of plants you would like to water. Cut the holes large enough to be able to fit and hold plant pots without letting them slip through into the container.
