Trekking in Pindari Glacier Saung starts from the base camp. From Saung you have to walk a distance of 3 km to reach Loharkhet. From here you need to Dhakuri, Khati, Dwali, and finally Phurkia Pindari Glacier. The total distance is 45 km long so you must be very fit and bring necessary clothing and food to last the trek. Some of the well-known peaks for trekking you will find here are the Balijuri, Panwalidwar, Nanda Khat, Nanda Kot and Changuch. During your journey to here you will come across a little helmet village called pristine Loharkhet. Here you can get a chance to scale the beautiful step of Dhakuri and enjoy its charming gorgeousness. As you climb down towards Khati village you can get glimpse of mystical snow-capped Indian Himalayas.

The best periods for trekking in this trek are between the months of May to October. The Base Camp Saung is without any difficulty can be reached from Bageshwar, Almora and Kathgodam. If you want to visit here by air then the nearest airport is Pant Nagar and Kathgodam is nearest railway station. If by road then come through Bageshwar it also has well connected by road with other major cities of Uttarakhand. Above all, trekking in here is an exciting mix of pleasure, adventure and self-fulfillment. The natural beauty of it cannot be explained in words. You have to be there to feel it yourself. The path to the glacier crosses the villages of Saung, Loharkhet, crosses Dhakuri passage continues in Khati village (the last populated village on the road), Dwali, Phurkia and lastly Zero Point, Pindar, the end of the road. Although most of the route is along the river Pindari, the river is mostly hidden until after Khati.
