    Excessive Intake

    • The best way to fight gray hair is to stop it before it happens. Sometimes graying hair is just hereditary but there are also other causes of gray hair. An excessive intake of tea, coffee, alcohol, fried and oily food, spices and sour and acidic foods can lead to graying hair. Excessive stress, anxiety and tension can also lead to gray hair.

    Diet

    • The right kind of diet can improve graying hair. To help fight the graying hair eat a lot of protein-rich foods, foods rich vitamins A and B and minerals like zinc, iron, and copper. Some examples of protein-rich foods are sprouted whole grains, cereals, soy and meat. Foods rich in minerals and vitamins A and B are dark green vegetables, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, bananas and other yellow fruits, cauliflower, cereals, liver, kidney, yogurt, yeast and wheat germ. Other foods containing minerals like zinc, iron and copper are red meat, chicken, dried apricots, red meat, parsley, eggs, wheat, sunflower seeds, cashews, almonds, crabs and oysters, egg yolk and whole grain.

    Home Remedies

    • There are many home remedies that require some kind of mixture to be massaged into the scalp and hair roots. The first is one tbsp. of table salt in a cup of strong black tea without milk. Another combination is a paste made of two tsp. of henna powder, one tsp. of yogurt, one tsp. of fenugreek, three tsp. of coffee, two tsp. of basil juice and three tsp. of mint juice. Leave on your hair for three hours, then shampoo it out. The final home remedy is to massage the scalp and hair with butter made from cow's milk twice a week.
