Alternative Fuel There's a new hybrid truck, but the Silverado is also available in alternative-fuel variations. Trucks equipped with the Vortec 6000 6.0L V-8 come with a dedicated compressed natural gas or bi-fuel system that can run on CNG or gasoline.
Light duty Silverado models with the Vortec 5300 5.3L V-8 give drivers the option of operating them on ethanol/gasoline blends, up to a maximum of 85 percent ethanol.
Silverado Payload Capacity
The Silverado's payload capacities range from 1,295 pounds for the light duty trucks to 4,047 pounds for 2500 models. Fuel Economy
Fuel use projections for the 2WD 1500 Silverado models were in the range of 16 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway. Four-wheel drive vehicles were lower by a few mpg in each class.
Chevy Silverado SS 2WD Pickup Truck
The Silverado SS gets its styling from the 1500 Series Extended Cab with a short bed and is powered by a high-output version of the Vortec 6000 V-8, which produces 345 horsepower. The truck's four-speed automatic overdrive transmission works with a 4.10 locking rear axle to help put the power to the ground when you need it.
Interior trim kits are an easy way to customize the truck's cabin. The new trims, available in carbon fiber, brushed aluminum and burled wood appearance, as well as gray and brown leather-look, are meticulously manufactured to ensure the right fit when they replace the original pieces. New interior trim pieces are available for the center console and instrument panel.
A performance exhaust is available to replaces the factory exhaust, providing a more aggressive sound and large-diameter interchangeable tips.
XM Satellite Radio
Upgrade your standard audio system to include XM Satellite Radio. Using factory components, this dealer-installed unit means that consumers don't have to fool around with extra wires, hardware, mounting or installation hassles commonly associated with some aftermarket products.
