Painting is a visual expression of your innovative ideas. The creative skill finds a way through colors and contours. Art in its visual form has been a part and parcel of our human history from the ancient past when men used to live in caves. Over years, visual arts have evolved a lot and been depicted through a variety of forms.

Form and mediums have experienced a sea change over years and such evolution can be contributed to a combined and complete force of ideas, technological developments and modern days' graphical illustrations. Such evolutionary changes have created two mainstream forms - Traditional Art and Modern Art.

Contemporary Art - What it is all about

Whereas ancient art, which is of more traditional type, dates back to the Stone Age, contemporary art is just like a new-born baby that started its journey with Impressionism as its basic form. Contemporary art has been revolutionized and enriched with additions and deletions during the last half of the 19th century. Modern styles disappeared at a quick pace reflecting fast-pacing changes in our society.

The Impressionist artists used to paint outdoors and had deep understanding and study of the effect of light and shade on the objects. That knowledge helped them create a wider and wonderful variety of arts such as landscapes and other things from their daily life. The trend lasted until 1905. More contemporary forms of art now see use of bold and impressive colors for painting - a trend that helps the artists create more real-life pictures.

The period of contemporary art refers to an era when there are remarkable changes in different levels, going beyond hand-made paintings to art photographs. The famous artists working on modern style of art forms experiment a lot with different mediums including visual graphics as well as 3D animations.

Art Investment

It is less important for investment whether the art is contemporary or traditional. Actually what attracts a heavy price is the signed works by the world-famous painters, sculptors and photographers. Most of the well-heeled buyers tend to invest on expensive works as these are considered a good investment from commercial viewpoint.

However, if you are buying artworks for the first time, start with drawings and then proceed to the mainstream medium. Do you really like the works of the artist? If yes, then build up your art collection. True it is that renowned artists' works will earn you fortune if you want to resell them. But you should also understand that such works are beyond the reach of buyers with shoestring budget.

If you are buying arts to deck up your interiors, never go with what matches the color of curtains or walls and/or the style of your sofa or other pieces of furniture as that will be the most stupid idea. Just imagine what if you change the curtain, furniture set or paint of wall? Will you throw away the artwork or sell it and buy a new one to replace the old beauty? Surely NOT!

If you like a work, just pick it up and if you can afford, just go and get it!
