It's not easy to reduce the natural perfection of the beaches on the coastline around Margate, South Africa to mere words.
We have one of the most perfect necklaces of beaches to be found anywhere in nature's perfect environment.
They are also among the most unspoiled, with the added bonus of being exceptionally under-patronised outside of our busy tourist seasons.
Our beaches are covered with pure white sea sand, interspersed by rocky outcrops that form the many natural bays.
The surf is usually calm and steady, to the delight of the sun worshipers idly watching the energetic surfing boys who chase the endless waves.
The houses along the beaches are frequently obscured by natural beach bush, and it's not hard to imagine that you are the first discover to walk them when out early on a clear summer's morning.
More and more of the beaches around Margate have blue flag status and benefit from shark nets and ever vigilant strapping young lifeguards.
This means that you can swim a little way out to sea in safety provided that you observe common-sense and obey instructions.
If you are reading this from the comfort of one of the great American or European cities, then you may have difficulty visualization just how clean and natural our beaches are out here.
There's only one way to solve the problem.
