The Washington Capitals were off to a great start this season and seem to be doing relatively well holding their own as the hockey season continues on towards its conclusion. Back in October, the team was taking no prisoners as they advanced through game after game, not looking back behind if anything less than a win happened to be the outcome. At the start of the season, the Washington Capitals took home victories against the Bruins, Maple Leafs, Sharks, Predators, Thrashers, Islanders and Flyers. With a starting track record of nine wins out of 13 games, it certainly was a good foundation to build a winning streak for the season.
The November games were a bit less of a winning streak than October, but it was still occasion for the Washington Capitals to strut their stuff on the ice; including the games against the Senators and the Blue Jackets which both went into overtime. A valiant effort was made but after the final buzzer sounded; in these two overtime events the Washington Capitals were forced to go home without the winning price in their hands. With many exciting games left to be played by the Washington Capitals in March and April, fans and players along with coaching staff and others are looking forward to much more action from this great hockey team.

When it comes to league standings, the Washington Cardinals are at the top of the charts with 90 points, 23-3-3 for home games and 18-10-5 for away games. San Jose, Chicago, Phoenix and Los Angeles make up the remaining roster for the league. It literally goes without saying that the Washington Capitals also hold the lead for the Eastern Conference with New Jersey, Ottawa, Pittsburgh and Buffalo rounding out the top five in that category.
