Whether you prefer to use permanent or disposable lenses, soft or hard, the storage procedures and clean handling are vital for the health and comfort of your eyes. One of the most significant aspects to maintain the cleanliness of lenses is proper cleaning and proper handling of the contact lens case. The contact lens cases must be daily cleaned in order to prevent the lenses from coming into contact with dust, bacteria, and sediments. At this time, this article is going to deliver several tips that will guide you to clean a contact lens case.

As the first step, you should thoroughly wash and dry your hand by using mild hand soap and the warm water. You need to make sure for rinsing all soap residue away and you should avoid touching any oils or lotions until after you have finished cleaning the case of your contact lens.

The second step is to remove the contact lenses from the case and then set them aside. It is not necessary to wash the contact lens case while you are still wearing the lenses. You have to place your lenses in spare and clean the case by using storing solution or in the clean bowl of solution. In addition, you need to make sure for using two separate bowls if the lenses have different strength prescriptions in the each eye in order to avoid confusing the left and the right lenses.

The third step that you need to do is to empty the lens case from any remaining solution. What you have to do in this step is to pour it down the drain.

The fourth step is to rinse your lens case and covers in the hot running water. You can use the hottest water that you can stand to handle since it can help you in destroying any bacteria as well as help you in rinsing any grime away.

The fifth step is to scrub the lens case and covers by using a clean, unused toothbrush, soap, and hot water. You should use only the pea-sized amount of the liquid soap because it will be plenty for cleaning the case and using too much can make it more difficult for cleaning the case clean. You also have to make sure that you scrub the entire case including the top, the outside, and the bottom.

The sixth step is to thoroughly rinse your lens case in order to remove any traces of soap.

The last step is to dry your lens case by using lint-free towel. If you find that there are any traces of water that cannot be removed this way, you need to let the case air-dry before you are going to fill it with storing solution and before you put your lenses back in, because the tap water can damage your contact lenses.
